Actual Comments from the holder of this Actual Career
How do you feel about this Actual Career?
This is a very secure field. There will always be a need to maintain and repair any equipment that is operated several hours a day several days a year. This is one of the reasons I chose this field. The company I work for is a well astablished company with a secure foundation, and I feel secure that I will have a place to work until I am able to retire, because of this. To me that is the most important concern with careers today. I enjoy the work that I do, but the politics of a manufacturing enviroment can be a little overwelming at times. There is a lot of different types of people, in this type of enviroment to please.
Was your degree helpful in your career field?
Yes
In your opinion, what kind of education did you need to get this career?
Prior experience, in my opinion, is all that is needed. A degree is important, and it usually opens the door for the opportunity.
Experience, Skills, Specialized Training, Licenses, or Certifications:
Consumer electronics/ appliance repair training and associated licensing. 15 yrs prior to my current career.
Just one more thing….
A strong focus on troubleshooting, while considering the human element operating the equipment (how the operator might of played a role in the problem) is very important in this field. As well as the willingness to learn something new everyday.
